Inflatable Kayaks

Inflatable Kayaks come in all shapes and sizes, and in a variety of different of different colours and materials. Sea Eagle’s inflatable kayak lineup is very well rounded and has designs which have been proven over the years. As an entry level inflatable kayak, the Sport Kayak series is great for everyday use on the lake during the summer and the occasional class 3 rapids. Two package options are offered with two different sizes of Sport Kayaks.

Looking for an inflatable kayak with a little more muscle behind it?  The Explorer series might be just what you’re looking for. The design is  little more aggressive, ready to handle raging rapids and long kayak trips while still maintaining a lightweight design. The drop stitch floor is the most significant structural difference from the Sport Kayaks.  This rigid inflatable floor lends tremendous strength to the frame, making river rapids easy to navigate.

If rivers aren’t your thing, then perhaps the open ocean and deep coves are more appealing. The FastTrack series is well suited to handle the large waves and steady ocean tide while searching out hidden coves and secret lagoons.

Inflatable kayaks don’t sound as secure to use as traditional models, but they are not your parents’ inflatable pool toys, to be sure. They are durable and strong, and they stay afloat quite easily. They also have tracking abilities that are superior to other boats.

There are many advantages to using inflatable kayaks. They are lighter in weight than composite or plastic boats, and they are much easier to carry to your launch point than conventional kayaks. Smaller inflatable kayaks can even be carried by one person. Whether you use them for sea kayaking or on camping trips or day tours, they are easy to take along, since they don’t require nearly as much storage space as traditional kayaks.

If you’re an experienced kayaker who has always used plastic or composite boats, you may doubt the stability of kayaks that are inflatable. But actually, they do very well on the water. They are puncture resistant and secure.

The proper inflatable kayak for you depends on how you will use it. If you need more stability or speed, a longer kayak is an excellent choice. If you’re more concerned about stability, a wider and shorter kayak will work effectively for you. Payload capacity can also be an issue, depending on how many people you normally have in each kayak.

Inflatable kayaks perform much like their conventional counterparts, although they react more to rough waters and wind than heavier boats.  Sitting forward and paddling close to your kayak will help to minimize these effects of wind and water. There are many advantages to using inflatable kayaks, and they will be a welcome addition to your camping or boating gear, since they are useful as well as light in weight.
