Inflatable Boats

Inflatable Boats

Inflatable boats have been produced for many years and for many varied uses.  From serving on US warships as life rafts during World War II to providing families with and affordable boating option during the summer, inflatable boats have become much more common in the markeplace.  The trouble is identifying which inflatable boats are suited best for your needs.  Pontoon fishing boats offered by Sea Eagle are fantastic at taking advantage but they aren’t very forgiving if your goal is to attack some class four rapids. The Explorer Kayaks would be a better choice.  There are obvious differences in the design of the two inflatable boats which also serve as the defining traits that set these inflatable boats apart from their competition.

Inflatable Boats: Pontoon boats vs. Kayaks

Pontoon boats are extremely stable platforms to fish from due to their construction.  The Sea Eagle FoldCats use two large 16″ diameter pontoons for boyancy and five 4′ 6″ aluminium slats provide the fishing platform.  This proven combination is excellent for use as a fly fishing platform which you can stand and cast from.  Adding a 3HP engine to the FoldCat inflatable pontoon boat allows it to move at almost 8 knots which is more than ample for trolling on your favorite lake. The Sea Eagle Explorer Kayak is a different story altogether.  Sea Eagle’s Explorer kayaks are built to handle the intense demands of class four rapids.  They have an inflatable dropstitch floor which provides tremendous rigidity to the design of inflatable kayak.  Two completely different applications of inflatable boats.

Inflatable Boats: Affordability and Versatility?

Is it really possible to have both affordability and versatility from one inflatable boat? The Sea Eagle PaddleSki seems to defy the standards set by other boat manufacturer since it is toted as 5 boats in one.
